My focus is on education, compassionate support and transition coaching for new parents. After 28 years of helping new families, being able to share my experience is very rewarding. Seeing new parents gain confidence, skill and insight day by day is truly a joy.
I attended my first birth as a newly trained birth doula in my home town, Toronto in 1991. I was immediately and hopelessly taken with birth, babies and new families. A few years, and a few dozen births later, I attended McMaster University, earning a BHSc in Midwifery. I moved to Ottawa in 2000 and practiced as a midwife for several years.
After leaving midwifery practice and working for a time as a midwifery clinic administrator, I came back to the work I love: caring for pregnant women and their partners as a childbirth educator, and soon after, for new families as a postpartum doula and new parent coach.
I began by teaching at The Ottawa Hospital and then in 2012 I was delighted to join the wonderful group of teachers at Ottawa Childbirth Education Association.
I received my official postpartum doula training from Doulas of North America in 2013, and I have been supporting and caring for families in the Ottawa-Gatineau area ever since.
I live with my wonderful partner in Aylmer, Quebec, and together with our larger blended family we are parents to two fantastic young adults. Our sweet and hilarious poodle, Lucie, completes our family.
I have experience working with twins, preterm babies, solo parents, parents by surrogacy, and parents with postpartum depression.
I warmly welcome all kinds of families into my care, inclusive of all sexual orientations, gender identities, ability, race, age, culture, ethnicity or religion. Respectful, open-minded and compassionate care is very important to me.
For those families seeking support who are experiencing financial hardship, I am happy to discuss an adjusted fee scale.
